Monetising My Blog
Creating an Honest Space
I want to create an honest space here where we can talk about all things life and business. Today, I’m chatting about the business side of things—because one of my goals for this space is for it to be more than just a creative outlet. I want it to become a passion project that adds value to my life in multiple ways.
Not a Sales Pitch—Just the Truth
Now, before you lose interest—this is not a sales pitch. I just want to share one of the ways I plan to monetise my blog. I’ll keep saying this: there are so many opportunities out there to create multiple income streams online. One of the paths I’ve chosen is affiliate marketing.
Notice I said one of my choices. That’s because I intend to create streams—meaning I’ll branch out in different directions over time. I believe there’s so much value I can offer, and I want to show that there isn’t just one way to build something meaningful online. But for now, it’s all about starting—and I’ve chosen to start with affiliate marketing.
What Is Affiliate Marketing (Really)?
So, what is affiliate marketing? You might already know, or maybe you have a rough idea. At its core, affiliate marketing means you're promoting a company’s product or service and, in return, you earn a commission for any sales made through your referral. Like any business, it has its ups and downs—but one thing I’ll always stand firm on is being honest about the journey.
The Reality of Building a Business
We’ve all known someone who started a side hustle—like selling kitchen containers or makeup—only to close it down after a while. Often, it’s not because they lacked potential or dedication, but because the expectations didn’t match reality. The truth is, it usually takes around two years for a business to really get off the ground. Anything that happens sooner is a bonus—and should be celebrated!
If you want to be successful in business, it takes consistency, time, and education.
Education is a big piece of affiliate marketing. There’s a lot of information out there about getting started, posting online, marketing organically or with ads, and of course, the mindset needed. But what’s often missing from the conversation is realistic expectation. Not every business takes off in 6–12 months—and that’s okay. That’s normal.
Why Affiliate Marketing Is My First Step
As for me, I’ve chosen to work in the high-ticket affiliate marketing space. That means I partner with a company that sells higher-priced products, and in return, the commissions are higher too. I’m not going to go into the specifics of the products—not because I’m hiding anything, but simply because you didn’t ask. Like I said, this isn’t a pitch—it’s just an open, honest conversation about my intentions.
The reason I’ve chosen this model as my starting point is simple: I don’t have to create or distribute my own product. I don’t keep inventory, and I’m not dealing with supply chains. My role is to provide information to those who are interested, and to support them from there. My deeper motivation? I’d love to see more people have more than one stream of income—and feel guided and supported to build that for themselves.
In many ways, I’m a part of a brand’s marketing team, but with the freedom to share things in a way that feels authentic to me. Of course, there are guidelines and best practices to follow—but they’re mostly just common sense.
The Freedom of Attraction Marketing
I focus on something called attraction marketing—which basically means I create content that reflects who I am and what I value. I show what I’ve created, and give others the option to do the same if it feels right for them. If someone is interested, I’ll happily share the resources and information I have. I want people to make informed, empowered decisions—not rushed ones.
So, Why Am I Sharing This?
Okay, this is starting to feel like a sales pitch, so I’ll stop here! But honestly, I’ve got nothing to hide and just want to be transparent with you.
To circle back to why I’m sharing this—yes, I do intend to monetise my blog. This is my chosen online business model, and I want to be upfront about that.
So, if you ever want to know more, feel free to reach out. And if not, I hope you continue to enjoy the lifestyle side of what I share.
Here’s to living simply, creating freely, and choosing honestly
